song list next song previous song Camel: Coming Of Age Camel: Harbour Of Tears Send Home The Slates
(Latimer/Hoover)
I work for the Union Pike, out on the Western Line.
I found Uncle Sean in Denver, and he and his wife are fine.
They send their best, and like the rest -
They send home the slates.

It took six months from the Cobh, another six by land,
But the pay is good, and as I should
I'll send home the slates.

Back on your feet now lads,
Our time for writing home has passed.
Six miles to spike today, that's what we need.

So fast lads we must advance,
Work to the Gandy dance.
Six days to double pay, that's our reward -
But not 'til the line goes down.

I'll not send empty letters, I know you need the rent.
Dad, you deserve a new pair of boots, I know it's money well spent.
So kind regards, I'll work hard -
To send home the slates.

PS. Dear Ma,
I send my picture.
Don't let the family forget me...
song list next song previous song Camel: Camel Separation
(Latimer)
You know we're fighting every day,
It's as if somehow we've lost our way.
When we'd first begun, yeah, we lived as one,
Now as time goes on, we move our own ways.

It's just no use in going on
When all the feeling now has gone.
You know we both have tried, yeah, we both have lied,
Now as tears subside, we move our own way.

Separation's the only way...
Separation starts today...

You know we're fighting every day,
It's as if somehow we've lost our way.
When we'd first begun, yeah, we lived as one,
Now as time goes on, we move our own ways.

song list next song previous song Camel: Rajaz Shout
(Latimer/Hoover)
Another day...
I might have found the words to say
all the things I meant to say.
All the years that passed between
you never understood the meaning of my way.
Another day there might have been
some other way to make
the sacrifice.

Another day...
I would try to be a friend,
you would never let me in.
If I could have it otherwise,
I'd chase the demons from your eyes to ease your soul.
But now you've reached this other side
where hopes and broken dreams can't turn the tide.

SHOUT !
to the top
SHOUT !
through your defenses...
SHOUT !
to the top

Another day...
you might have found your destiny,
knowing that it's meant to be.
A self-effacing prodigy,
you gave it up for infamy
and fell from grace.
And so I wrote this song for you,
the only way I know to wish you peace.

SHOUT !
to the top
SHOUT !
through your pretenses...
SHOUT !
to the top
Lay down your defenses,
SHOUT !
to the top

song list next song previous song Camel: Camel Slow Yourself Down
(Ward/Latimer)
They tell me you're searching for a new place,
They tell me tomorrow will have a true face.
They say that I don't understand,
When you speak of your summertime land -
Just slow yourself down, I'm coming along.

They tell me your past often hurt you,
And even your friends, they would desert you.
But now you are beginning to see,
The same things have happened to me -
Just slow yourself down, I'm coming along.

You tell me your dreams have been broken,
And not enough words have been spoken.
The time has come to see it through.
Slow down 'coz I'm coming with you -
Just slow yourself down, I'm coming along.

(Latimer/Bardens)
The sun has left the sky
Now you can close your eyes
Leave all the world behind until tomorrow
The dream is like a song
It leads you on and on
The piper plays his tune so you must follow

So far beyond the sky
Not knowing how or why
You realize the feeling is forever
And though another day
May steal your dreams away
You and the song will always stay together
song list next song previous song Camel: Coming Of Age Camel: Never Let Go Camel: Lanscapes Camel: The Collection Camel: Moonmadness Spirit Of The Water
(Bardens)
See the lights out on the water
Come and go, to and fro
In the time it takes to find them
You can live, you can die
And nothing stops the river as it goes by
Nothing stops the river as it goes

All alone and all together
Every day, come what lay
By the time we find each other
We can live, we can die
And nothing stops the river as it flows by
Nothing stops the river as it goes
song list next song previous song Camel: Breathless Starlight Ride
(Latimer/Bardens)
There's a road that I must go
There are short cuts that I know
But I know that we'll make it eventually
On a starlight ride

There's a fire you got below
(That remain in me)
When the chilly winds will blow
(Leave me comfort you)
But as long as we let all our feelings show
It will never die

Feel the magic in the air
(In the summer night)
See the road ahead is clear
(But I'm feelin' fine)
Let's take every moment and drink it down
Like a mellow wine

In the slipstream of the night
(I hear music play)
Though its road is crystal bright
(Seems so far away)
And it leads us from here to forevermore
On a starlight ride

song list next song previous song Camel: Rajaz Straight To My Heart
(Latimer)
I was born in '49,
in a family of four.
Father had his own band
just after the war.

My brother and I had a radio
and every night we'd share,
waves from Luxembourg
that came through the air.

Days were full of music
and nights were just the same.
And though the songs are different now
some things never change...

I can't explain the way I feel.
Why, even to this day,
I still love that sound of that red guitar.
It takes my breath away
and goes straight...
to my heart.
Straight to my heart.
Straight to my heart.
song list next song previous song Camel: Breathless Summer Lightning
(Latimer/Sinclair)
Here's that feeling once again
Across the room you turn and then
Smile - I've known that smile before
Yes we've been friends for sure
Dreams and memories so clear
Share the love that we once had
Let the music carry on
Keep on dancing

Summer nights - here on that shoreline
Meet again - and drink that wine
This old wine - still thinking of you
Missing all the things you do

Here in the falling rain
Once again we play love's game

Keep on dancing - you cast that magic
Déja-vu - it's in your stars
They reveal - you know the answer
They are true - so for a while

Let's renew all those lovers' ties
Summer lightning in your eyes
It keeps on dancing

I've always known love
Would return to life in the darkest day
We will meet again
But on a later lifetime
Cross the skyline, I'll always be your friend
Send my love to you
There'll be no sad goodbyes
